A Coffee Love Story (PLUS GIVEAWAY x 2!)

I first got hooked on coffee as a wee wide-eyed lass backpacking around Europe. Up until that point, I was an avid tea drinker. But the smell of coffee, serious coffee, was too much to resist and I began my love affair with caffeine with gusto. In the Netherlands, to be exact. Like you do!

Over the years, my coffee drinking has become more discerning. No longer will I tolerate inferior liquids. I like mine strong. A skinny cap is my drop of choice. Mr. Woog is the same. Sometimes he will order a macchiato, just to look tough.

Mr. Woog is very aware of my need to start the day with a cup of coffee. Because I had it written into our wedding vows.

“THOU SHALT BRING THINE WIFE THY COFFEE IN BED AT DAWN’S BREAK WITH A CHIPPER WARM GREETING.”

Did I mention that it had to be a café coffee?

Well it did. We have a coffee machine somewhere in a cupboard. It is massive and takes up a lot of bench space. Sure, she LOOKS fancy, but she is a bugger to clean and a drama to use, so she has been retired, looking for someone that might appreciate her.

When Woolworths asked me to share with you the launch of their brand spanking new coffee machine called Caffitaly, I accepted with glee! Why? Because it is one of dem high-feluting capsule ones that any idiot can use.

Also, I must say, that the service around here of late has become a little patchy, what with an early morning surf taking priority over honoring his wedding vows.

Pretty sexy hey! The thing I like about it was that I didn’t need to read any instructions. It was very, very simple to use. Turn it on, water in the back, capsule in the top AND DISCO!

Of course I vlogged about it! Here, pull up a pew. One lump or two?

It came as no surprise to me to learn that Australians have become very picky when it comes to their coffee. Coffee, after all, is the third most popular drink after water and booze. For me, I like to bookend my day with a little coffee in the morning and a little vino at night.
I swear I should be Italian.

Another reason to consider owning a coffee machine, apart from the convenience, is the price. Let me break it down for you.

Cost per cup?

·      Woolworths Caffitaly               0.41c

·      Nespresso                                0.78c

·      Café                                        $3.50

·      Café near Jabba the Hut         $5.00

Yes. $5 for a coffee. PLUS A LONG WAIT TIME!

So Jabba the Hut will be getting one of these for Christmas this year. Which will probably disappoint her, as she was desperate for a new hot water system. Or a lick of paint at the very least.
