How I lost ten kilos.

This post is sponsored by Woolworths.

Off all the strange things that happened to me this year, I lost ten kilos.

Why is that strange?

Because I was not dying of some tropical disease not carrying around some magical fat eating parasite. The reason was simple.

I moved house.

Now, moving house by itself is not going shift the extra kegs off you. It was the fact that our old house was next to a café. A café that served up my nemesis.

Bloody Carrot Cake Cupcakes!

I would go to the café each morning and order my skim cap. As the barista made it, the tray of cakes would smile and wink at me. I swear they where whispering…

“Remember our cousin that you ate in the car yesterday? How was that cream cheese icing! We are the same… the same… the same… the same….”

And because I have absolutely no self-discipline at all, I would say something like… “Better chuck in that cupcake as well….” And then I would hoover it up in the car, wipe the cream cheese icing off under the car seat and get about my business.

A cupcake. Every day. Apart from the times that I would want to change things up and hook into some buttery, cinnamon toast.

About the time we moved, I did a campaign with the new Woolworths Caffitaly Coffee machine. I had had other machines in the past, but they were all too much of a pain in the ass, fiddly bits. Hard to clean. Average coffee.

When we moved there was no direct access to coffee so I started using it daily. I no longer needed to get my coffee from the café, and therefore was not tempted by the Carrot Cake Cupcakes*. And my ass thanked me for it.

The coffee is great. Just as good as the café’s that I used to frequent. There is no cleaning that has to be done (That I am aware of anyway) and it is as predictable as a cold sore at Christmas time.

Now I have a two-cup a day habit, and don’t get me wrong! I still love to frequent our local for a catch up with the Huffy Puffy ladies (who have also had a part to play in lard-shifting) but I did some rough calculations about how much money the machine has saved me.

2 x $3.50 x 7 x 52 = $2, 548.

THAT, my friends, is a decent holiday in Bali.

The Caffitaly Coffee System is available at Woolworths and you will get change from $100. It would make a great present for the coffee nut in your house. They have 5 strengths to choose from. My pick is Colombian Roast.

Untitled*the café also sold the world’s best hot chips, which also might have had something to do with it…
