Beach Cottage Reveal! – Jabba gets Fancy.

In the 18 months since we bought Jabba The Hut, she has seen us through some very good times, and in turn we have treated her to a little makeover. I set out to redecorate her by using only second-hand items from garage sales, council clean ups and Vinnie’s shopping. It has been a lot of fun pulling it all together, and finally, we gave her an exterior paint job that she was crying out for.

And of course by “we” I mean my beloved friend Alan.

Remember what she looked like?

Well, she has gone all girly on us, in the sunroom at least…

She was lacking a little punch in the street appeal stakes. I asked around for colour suggestions, even readers had some very strong ideas which I took into consideration.

Pale salmon and beige. We took down the nasty brushwood fence and since then, the garden has gone crazy loco. She is now looking very different….

We built a railing around the verandah to stop people (me) from falling onto the garden, and to give Chuy a place to perch in the sun and attack the dogs that wander past. We also built a little seating as well.

Colours are from Dulux. Walls are in VOLTAGE, trim is in WHISPER WHITE and other shit is in SHALE GREY. We had a colour consultant choose the exact shades we wanted. We had Drift Design work their magic, a local design place. Mr Woog arranged the whole thing over the phone showing initiative I never knew existed in him before!

Now there is only one project left, and that is to find the perfect sofa. I am on the hunt for a second-hand Baby Jasper, which will mean nothing to most of you, as I had no idea what it was until I sat on one recently.

There was also some talk about getting Jabba to pay a bit of her own way, letting her out for girly weekends and the like. But I am not 100% sold on the idea.

So there you have it. Jabba the Hut is done, and don’t you think it is strange that she turned out to be a girl after all of that?

Do you likey?
