Who is this Dirty Slut!

Supermarket chain Aldi, has pulled from its shelves, one of my favourite books ever. Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl is what is right with modern literature, taking classic yarn and re-working it to produce highly amusing and engaging stories. I know a lot of them off by heart.
But Aldi have put their politically correct pants on and have declared that the Prince took it too far when he did decree…

“Who is this dirty slut? Off with her nut! Off with her nut!”

Of course he was referring to Cinderella’s Ugly sister, just moments before he swung his trusty sword and smack!

Back in 1402, if you were called a slut, then you could consider yourself a “dirty, untidy or slovenly woman.” And as the centuries have flown by, along with words like faggot and gay, so to has the meaning of the word slut.

BUT FAIR SUCK ON THE SAUCE BOTTLE ALDI (Which I believe you sell under the name of Bramwells Tomato Ketchup). To remove one of the greatest books ever because of that one word that offends you, well that is ridiculous. Sure, call someone a slut in a different context is wrong. But Mr Dahl used the term in context.

Even in the bible, Jonathan is referred to as a stupid son of a bitch (although the correct terminology was actually son of a perverse rebellious woman.) But I digress.

Mrs Woog cried “Who is this awful store?”

“I will never grace the door…

Of an establishment who, so politically correct

To pull this book so I shall defect

And shop elsewhere even though

Your prices are ridiculous low.

Your moral high-ground, you can park it.

This little piggy will shop at the other market.

What do you make of this move from Aldi?
