Meet My {extended} Family.

What a great weekend it was. It even managed to stop raining yesterday, which was terrific as we had our annual quarterly family birthday festivus. As there are so many people in my family, we get together each quarter and celebrate the birthdays that occur within the three months. Yesterday we were celebrating June, July and August. WHICH MEANT ME!!!!

And it also fell on Fathers Day, so there were many reasons to celebrate. Come, lets have a look at how a day like this goes down.

I don’t have to travel to Katoomba to see the three sisters, as I have a set all of my own. Here they are having a chat. A small one clings to his mother for some reason. And Step Dad cracked out the fanciest champagne classes he could find. From the Lions Club. Klassy. He was given 6 months to live 6 years ago, so we embrace his eccentricities and thank GOD he is still here to deliver them.

Mum made her World Famous Ham, which is glazed in brown sugar and stout. She pulled it out of the oven as I was preparing a salad. I told her ‘DO NOT LEAVE ME ALONE WITH THE HAM!” But she didn’t listen. And I could not help myself. I cracked that pig. And it was good.

Here is Mum with Sonia Kluger and Mille. Millie was a rescue dog. She was on death row when Mum found her. Millie is now obsessed with Mum and follows her everywhere. Kind of like she knows that Mum saved her. She had also been badly abused but is such a lovely, confident dog now.

This is the most sensible of the sisters. She is kind and nice and thoughtful and considered. She also gave me a HOT Marimekko jug for my birthday.

On the other end of the spectrum, this is the crazy one (below) She is the funniest person in the world, and would do anything for a dare. She gave me a pair of fluro Lorna Jane Pants of Power. You are NOT going to miss me in those. You may even be able to spot me from outer space in them.

Lunch was served. Here is one of my brother in laws. We call him Pookie. He is originally a farmer, so he does manly duties such as carving the love of my life.

But soon comes off due to a foot injury. A small blip on an otherwise perfect day.

Tell me about your family. How would you describe them?

Normal? Dysfunctional? Crazy?
