What is your dream destination?

Brought to you by Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Some people collect stamps. Some people prefer to collect gnomes while others gain glee by collecting snow globes. Me?

I collect Qantas Frequent Flyer Points. I have been a card carrying member of this program since May 2006, and why?

Because girlfriend likes to travel!

But there are so many ways that I can indulge in collecting points so that I may occasionally turn left when getting onto a plane, that I thought I would share with you some simple tips and tricks to get your points-a-pumping and your travel dreams realized.

So polish up your passport and let’s do this!

Firstly, it is important to understand that gone are the days where you just earned points by flying. The Qantas Frequent Flyer program now lets you reach your dream destinations by allowing you to accumulate points doing daily, mundane stuff. Like banking.

So there are 8 ways to top up your account.

Well, we already know that when you are a member, you earn points when you fly Qantas and partner airlines, such as Jetstar. So let us move on.

Cards and Banking

Every time I use my credit card, I am getting points. Pay bills, filling up Sonia with Petrol and never-ending kid expenses? Points, points, points! Plus keep your eye out for great deals that come up. Like right now if you apply for a NAB Credit Card, not only will you pay no fees for a year, you will also get 40,000 bonus FF points.

Shopping online has exploded so much so, that Qantas have now opened up its own virtual mall. With all the big names there, such as David Jones, eBay, Net-A-Porter and The Iconic, you can earn up to 5 points for every dollar spent. Click here to browse, without the dreary elevator music. I also get points every week by doing my grocery shopping by using my Everyday Rewards Card from Woolies, which is linked to my Frequent Flyer Card.

Cars and Hotels

Plan your getaway and book it via the Qantas site and take advantage of special rates, AS WELL as earning points. There are over 100,000 hotels to choose from in over 50,000 cities, where you can get 3 points per dollar spent. If you keep your eye out, you can also grab extra discounts on accommodation.

We stayed here when Horatio was a baby. Beautiful hotel. And look at this great deal when you book through QFF. Plus the points? No brainer.

Qantas Cash

If you are a serious traveller, or a newbie, then this is worth considering. So many times I have spent over budget and have come back stinging with debt due to fees and just generally being very “spendy”. This is the answer to many issues when dealing with foreign currency. Plus… earn points!

Phone and Web

You already have to pay the bill, so get something back. If you are with Optus, get 2 points per $1 spent.

Food and Wine

If, like me, you enjoy the odd glass of good grape, you can shop in the Qantas epiQure  store and earn 3 points per dollar spent. And if you have a special occasion coming up, or just cannot be bothered to cook dinner tonight, click here to make bookings, earn points while you are at it, and take advantage of some great specials that come up, like 50% off your food bill. No brainer. Pass the pinot.

Earn points for parking, new car purchases, experiences, holidays, insurances, even real estate services.

Win a share of 1 Million Qantas Points!

What is your Points Destination Goal? Where would you love to go?

All you have to do is set yourself a goal and you’ll go in the draw to win one of 5 x 200,000 Qantas Points. Plus, then every time you earn with a new partner until 18 May, you’ll get another chance to win.

That would be more than enough me for to fly return to Rome!
